Revelation 20:4-6, "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years."

THE MILLENNIUM
Many people wonder exactly what we Christians will be doing during the thousand-year reign of Jesus commonly known as the Millennium. The answer is in Rev. 20:6. The Bible states that we will reign with Christ and that we will be priests of God and of Christ. It also indicates in verse 4 that at least some of the Christians that reign with Christ during the Millennium will have the task of judgement.
Consider the underlined portion of the text to the left. This text could easily be placed at the end of the selection and the rest of the selection read without interruption. It indicates that anyone who worshipped the beast or received its mark would not live again until the thousand years were completed. They will not be resurrected until their works are judged at the Great White Throne judgement. Those resurrected at the Great White Throne judgement will be taking part in the second resurrection. This is not a resurrection that you will want to be part of.
The angel states in this selection that "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power". To take part in the second resurrection means that you will be judged according to your works at the Great White Throne and if your name is not written in the Lamb's book of life you will be thrown alive into the lake of fire. This will be known as the second death.
The first resurrection is the resurrection of all of those that went through the first three and a half years of the great tribulation. They were martyred when they refused to accept the mark of the beast. We must still keep in mind that all of the other Christians were seen in heaven prior to the great tribulation, and that the 144,000 Jews were ransomed from the earth prior to the angel's call for patience and steadfastness in chapter 14 verses 12-13. Again this call for patience and steadfastness was because all of those who come to the Lord in the first three and a half years of the tribulation would be martyred at the midpoint of the great tribulation before the seven plagues were delivered.
