Revelation 1:14-16, "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength."

JESUS IN THE MIDST OF THE LAMP STANDS
The seven stars represent the seven angels of the seven assemblies or Churches. While the seven lampstands represent the seven churches themselves.
Jesus is holding the seven stars which represent the seven angels in his right hand. This signifies that it is he directly who commands them. On the other hand Jesus is seen walking amongst the seven lampstands. This signifies that the seven Churches are free moral agents. Though Jesus is in their midst the Churches are autonomous. They are guided but not directly controlled by Jesus. This can be seen by the fact that many of the Churches were repremanded by not doing what was correct in the eyes of the Lord.
