Revelation 20:11-15, "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

THE GREAT WHITE THRONE
All of those who die outside of the grace provided by God through His Son Jesus Christ will now be resurrected in this, the second resurrection. A person apart from Christ dies in their sins and are then resurrected in the second resurrection to judgement. The book of Hebrews states:
Hebrews 9:27, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement:"
For this very reason Christ died on Calvary, so that we might be partakers in the first resurrection and not the second resurrection. Read on and find out how we who are still alive can be resurrected when we have not yet died physically.
Romans 6:3-11, "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord."
A Christian is called "Born Again" for good reason. This means that we have died to sin. The judgement against us was laid upon Jesus Christ when he took the penalty of our sin upon himself. Our "old man" has perished and we have had our part in the first resurrection from the dead. Since we who are Christian have taken already part in the first resurrection, then we can not be resurrected again unto judgement.
In the second resurrection, many books are opened which are used to judge the lives of those who stand before the Great White Throne. Every action, every deed and every thought a person has ever done or had are recorded here. Every person will be judged impartially according to his or her works and according to the standard of God's own Word.
It is also interesting to note here that along with the "many books" that were opened there will also be another book opened called the "Book of Life". Notice that this is not the Lamb's book of life. The Lamb's book of life contains all of the names of those that have trusted in Jesus and accepted His sacrifice. How can it be possible to be found in the Lamb's book of life if you are at the Great White Throne judgement?
The Great White Throne judgement is a judgement of works, not of faith in Christ Jesus. This "book of life" will not contain the names of Christians, but the names of those who have only done good works (if indeed there are any names at all in it). Whereas Christians will have robes made white and spotless by the blood of lamb, those in this book will only have "filthy rags" in comparison. Isaiah 64:6
