Revelation 16:17-21, "And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great."

SEVENTH PLAGUE
The seventh angel is ordered to pour out his plague into the air. In the same manner as a judge pounding his gavel and stating “case closed!” so will this plague close the time of the great tribulation and usher in the armies of God with Jesus at their head. With a resounding command from the heavenly sanctuary stating “It is done!” God will now close the scene of the great tribulation in his play of end-time events.
The seventh plague begins with voices, thunders and lightnings. The word voices in the King James Version is 5456 phone {fo-nay'} in the Greek and can also be translated as a sound, or a tone of inanimate things such as musical instruments according to the Strong's concordance.
After the great sounds, thunders and lightnings there is a great earthquake the likes of which mankind has never seen. The great city, that is Jerusalem, is then divided into three pieces. The word divide here from the Strong's Concordance is 1096 ginoma and means, to become, i.e. to come into existence, begin to be, receive being. Some may say that this applies today since Jerusalem is split into three ideologies today Judaism, Islam and Christianity. This fact cannot apply to this plague due to the fact that this particular event only comes into existence at the time of the seventh plague and at the end of the great tribulation. Neither of these events has as yet happened.
This earthquake is felt on a worldwide scale as is suggested by the statement “and the cities of the nations fell” The entire earth will be shaken to its core.
Now also does Babylon the great come in remembrance before God. Babylon the great is a world religious system that has existed since the time of the flood. It is named after the original Babylon under the command of Nimrod and was the religion that spawned the idea of the tower of Babel. We will go into this in more detail in the next section called Mystery Babylon the Mother of Harlots. Mystery Babylon comes to the Lords remembrance after the seven plagues are poured upon the earth and this false religion will experience a special judgement.
This plague does not end with the great earthquake though. After the great earthquake comes a great hail out of heaven. This hail contains hailstones that weigh between fifty and sixty pounds or around 25 Kilos each. Falling at terminal velocity these stones will crush anything that gets in their way. Houses, skyscrapers, malls, government headquarters and anything else in the path of this great storm will be pulverized.
Sounds, lightnings, thunder, a great earthquake and sixty pound hail all work together to make this the worst of all of the plagues. Men still continue to blaspheme God because of the great torture of this plague. Still unrepentant mankind continues to gather at Armageddon for the last confrontation with the Lord.
The seven plagues have all been delivered upon the earth. There is but one more thing that needs to be done prior to the millenium. This is the battle of Armageddon. But before this battle the Apostle John is given another parenthetical passage in which is described the special judgement that was reserved for Babylon the great the mother of harlots.
