Daniel 9:24-27, "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the over-spreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

Summation of the Seventy Sevens of Daniel.
Daniel chapter nine gives us an impeccable schedule of events commonly called the Seventy Weeks of Daniel, or more correctly interpreted, the Seventy Sevens of Daniel. The word translated "week" does not actually mean week, but "sevens".
To quickly sum up the contents of Daniel 9 the seventy sevens of years, as the context of Daniel would attest, are broken up into three distinct sections. The 7 sevens of years. The 62 sevens of years and the 1 seven of years. The 7 sevens added to the 62 sevens make up the time from the signing of an official decree by King Cyrus to rebuild Jerusalem to the birth of the messiah, Jesus. The 1 seven is the period of the Great Tribulation.
The 7 sevens begin at the time that King Cyrus gave his decree and are the forty-nine years that were necessary to rebuild Jerusalem. Immediately following the 7 sevens was a period of 62 sevens or 434 years. The second part of verse 25 speaks of 69 sevens which is achieved by merely adding the 7 sevens to the 62 sevens. So from the time of the signing of the decree of King Cyrus to the birth of Jesus (the Messiah) was a total of 69 sevens or 483 years. Between the 69th and the 70th seven is an undisclosed period of time commonly known as the age of the Church in which three things will occur.
Daniel 9:26 "...And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, "The first thing that would happen is that Jesus would be killed.
Daniel 9:26 "...the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;" The second thing that would happen is that the city of Jerusalem and the Temple would be destroyed, that happened in 70 AD by Rome. The prince that "shall" come (future tense) refers to the antichrist of the end days spoken of in Daniel chapters 7-8 and indicates that the antichrist will come from the same place that those who destroyed the city and the sanctuary came from, Rome.
Daniel 9:26 "...unto the end of the war desolations are determined." The third thing to happen in this time is that unto the end there will be war. This has certainly been true of the area since the destruction of Jerusalem by Rome. Not only the 7-day war and the Palestinian problems, but also all of the crusades fought over the Holy Land in times past.
The undisclosed amount of time between the 69th and 70th week is also known as the time of the Church. This is the period of time where the church has been carrying out the great commission given us by the Messiah, Jesus. The time of the Church is encapsulated in the book of Revelation by the opening of the seven seals. God has given us this time of grace that He might accomplish His purposes in the earth.
Then you might ask, "Why do we need both the accounts in Daniel and the account in Revelation?" The answer is simple. The 70 sevens of Daniel tell what is happening on the earth concerning end-time events. Whereas the book of Revelation tells what is happening in heaven concerning the end-time events.
